ok my current radio is a 2001 alpine 7864 w/ blue lights. at nite time the light from the radio is so bright its destracting at times when im driving. the light dims down when i put the headlights on but its still bright.

ive been thinking of taking the radio out of the basic radio mounting area and placing it down were my cup holders are (in a 97 civic) so that the light will be below me and not so distracting, like at eye view.

has anyone else done this kind of move w/ there radio. or does anyone find there radio light too bright at night time or is it just me??????

 

im doing the same thing, moving the headunit to the cupholder area, but getting a LCD fold out screen in the top.

I also drive a HX, slow as hell

haven't done it, BUT i've seen it many times. just leave your factory head unit up top and put the Alpine down below. it should fit without any problems. and for extra security measure (this is lame) just put your cupholder lid up when you park your car. (it KIND of hides the head unit down there)
