H/U opinion
I will tell you right now DO NOT BUY SONY CAR AUDIO ANYTHING. I mean that what ever you do do not buy anything that sony makes for car audio. They are sucky as hell at it and do not do a good job at all. Go with Alpine Clarion Pioneer Premier Nakamichi Kenwood Excelon or Denon those would be my choices mainly.

i guess some people never tried the CDX-C90 headunit? it's the ES model before sony made a downfall choosing quantity over quality. it has dual 20-bit DAC if anyone cares, not that it really makes a difference. quality is top notich and some will tell you that they are probably one of the best to use at SQ comps. comes with no internal amp as expected. those puppies cost around $900. anything mobile ES is good. most people would say.."sony sucks" and then people get the idea and starts spreading. then everyone assumes sony as a whole sucks when truely their older models are very high quality. just don't get the newer xplod stuff and you're ok.

I am pretty sure he is not buying the older model. I agree with you that the es series are great. Too bad, some great companies chooses quantity instead of quality.
That would be before they were sold at Best Buy for $49.99. Quantity over quality is tough, but I guess that's why some companies are able to stay in business. Look in any of your local-boy-racer rags, all the sales are on X-Plod stuff, RF amps, subs, etc...
sony cdx-c90, i got that piece of **** in my car, if ur audio system isn't top of the line all digital ****, {so you can use the digital output reason why it cost so much}it ain't going to do you any good, my **** can't even catch me the fm radio, only am wtf. you want one offer my a resonable price, this p.o.s. was expensive

how about $200 for that deck
Somehow I SERIOUSLY doubt that this kid is getting the older model of Sony. The new stuff is crap. Now granted in their HUs they are making a BIT of a comeback in the quality department. The thing is Sony Car Audio is not that great. Yeah they had a few OLD things that are great but the fact is he is asking about the newer stuff but in my experience I don't like Sony Car Audio at all. That is just me like you like different things. I do not dismiss that Sony makes some good things. I just built me a home theater system in the spare room and it consisted of all Sony except for the DVD and the Reciever. Sony does do home audio decent at least the MF-400H-MF600H line is nice for the money you pay. Just depends on what you like but I would not suggest that anyone get Sony if it came down to a choice between a 350$ Sony and say a Clarion HX-D10 which is about 300$ but no internal amp as you know. Now can you tell me that the 350$ Sony is better then the Clarion? You won't convince me but that is my taste and hearing. Yours is different just like everyone elses. But hey what do I know.....
every cd player has it's weaknesses. in this case, the sony isn't good at fm receptions. then again, it was made for more serious SQ competitions (who uses fm in comps?)

sorry $200 is too low, i paid $900 retail at the shop i bought from $1100, and who needs fm in comps? well is this H/U only for comps, what about when u r crusing the local street and want to here the local stations, and yea it was design for the serious comps, i bought it because i was competing in db drag racing, all top of the line ****, i personal recomend one of the new higher end Alpine decks, like the phantom face

Well I asked the same question on another websiter and got pretty much the same responses which is "sony car audio sucks...of course except for some of the older stuff...so I guess it doesn't all suck then", thanks for all your opinions I think I'm going to go with either Alpine or Pioneer.
hehe ya, and MTX got the old lead engineer from RF.. remember RF's old killer all black amps? The lead engineer of those designs is with MTX now...
Yep. The newer MTX **** is pretty nice. The 8100D is extremely good for being able to be bought at like circuit city. All of the MTX n-channel amps are underrated, and push out a lot of power.
