Great STOCK sound systems? 1985-2002
I was at the junkyard today trying to get speakers on a budget, and found a really nice mercedes benz with bose. Got the speakers, cut them to fit, then did some research. I guess these are 2 ohm and run to a factory amp, which then leads to fiber optics. I hear they dont sound that great anyway, bose is just an overhyped speaker.
So, to get to the point... What cars 85-02ish have really good stock radios? The junkyard i go to has everything. Many, many GM, some Chrysler, lots of ford, and a good amount of foreign. There were some lexus, bmw, mercedes, infinity, etc. Thanks for the help guys, should be making another trip tomorrow morning.

Well...... Ive never even seen an aston martin in real life... guess im **** outta luck lol, some have to be better than others! Well im leaving right now, i think i might get some out of a lexus, hopefully theyre decent, wish me luck!
Well found an old supra with 2009 alpine 6.5s in back and 4" in front. Installed the 6.5's with a ghetto styrofoam adapter in front, and working on getting the little 4's to fit in back. Good deal for 5$, theyre like brand new... I love the junkyard :D
With that much time on your hands, I would rather save money and buy new speakers instead of used ones from wreck cars at the junkyard. I bought a set of MB Quart 6 1/2" component set AND a set of MB Quart 6"x 9" for $109 shipped from www.onlinecarstereo.com. I have dealt with them before and they seem to have the best prices online.

My 1996 Mercedes Benz S320 had the best stock system I've ever heard. It was equal to the stock system of my friends 03 bmw 330i which is pretty impressive I think. The benz did have alot of speakers though for stock, i think somewhere between 8-13 if you include tweeters and what not.
I got speakers out of a 98 S320 but couldnt use them because of the 1 ohm bose bs. So now I got some alpine type r's from craigslist. Putting the type r's in front, and type S's in back because the 4" speakers are too small. Then im probably taking my Kicker 12's out of my truck and putting them in the civic, when i get it running right. I have A LOT of speakers now from the JY if anyone wants them ill send them for 15 or 20 a pair. All 6.5 door speakers. 95 civic, 98 S320, 96 lexus ES300, and some 6X9's from a 97 accord. But for anyone looking at this, just get some aftermarket unless theyre from a car you KNOW has good speakers that arent from some goofy system like bose. Thanks guys :D
it's not so much that bose blows as it is they are designed for one interior. some specific car audio systems are tested, equalized and fixed via combos of caps, resistors and coils to create the frequency response the engineer is after in that car in that location with that amp. change any of it and the whole equation shifts
