Got a question for SHINBO
first off i had an account here but can't seem to figure out my p/w, so i created another one. well SHINBO, or anybody else that may be able to help, i did a search and saw that you had an 03 accord with a flip out monitor and still kept the capabilities of your 6 disc changer, how did you do that? the person i spoke to said if i get the monitor, i would lose my factory changer. btw, how do you like the monitor being low? any likes and dislikes?
thanks.
thanks.
hey, you found me! well i have an 04 accord with a pioneer avic-n1 6.5" in-dash lcd monitor. it's mounted where the factory cd storage case (the sliding metal door) used to be. there is a dash kit that is available to replace that part of your center console. i got all of my a/v stuff done at disc. car stereo in des moines, wa.
how they made it was that they used the aux. port with the factory stereo with a aux. interface converter. but instead of taking away the functionality of the cd-changer, they replaced the factory xm satellite radio to be my aux. player. so to get sound to my in-dash monitor, i have to set the factory radio to xm mode.
i didn't trust myself to mess with the electronics in my car so i had them install everything for me, and it turned out great.

xm sat. radio is preinstalled with the factory radio for 03+ accords (EX and above i know for sure, if you have LX, i would check). mine came with a 3 month trial, and after my trial time, i didn't continue so i just had an empty stereo input for my LCD.
my pioneer avic-n1 has navigation so i'm loving it. i have an xbox mounted below the passenger's seat, and i can play when i'm not driving and also doubles as my DVD player. if you are to put in an LCD display in your car, make sure you get good power converters and a stronger battery. my stock battery couldn't handle everything when the key was in ACC. it lasted a good 15-20 minutes before it went out.
