So i got the kickers since there new and i know they werent abused. Im getting a 160 w rms amp 2morrow for these 2 subs so im gonna have 160 going to each sub is that enough to fullful my bass needs u think? Im upgrading from one pioneer sub and a 100 w amp thats about 4 years old.
Get 2 subs that are 4ohm and wire them in paralel for a 2ohm load.

You haad some pertty good advice, but you seem to know more. you really need a 300 watt mono amp

I dont get it at all man sry but i got it stuck in my head that 1 amp that is 2 channel that puts out 160w x 2 to 2 subs that rms rating is 150 i dont understand how a mono would be better.
The specs on the amp please. I'm guessing you're buying it because it's cheap. You do seem to be a little confused. 2 channel(A/B) amps are designed to produce stereo sound. You do not need stereo so you need to switch the amp to mono and bridge the amp. Make sure you set the crossover right. The advantage of getting a 2 channel(A/B) amp is it can be swapped throughout the car to use with different speakers. Class D mono amps are more efficient so they consume less power and run cooler. They have higher distortion than class A/B. Class A/B sounds better but run hotter.
From crutchfield "
When choosing an amplifier, the most important thing is to pick one with the right amount of power for your subs (you can read more about that there.) Once you've decided how much power you need, you'll need to decide which type of amp to use. For most sub systems, you'll want to choose either a mono amp or a two-channel amp."

where you planning on mounting this amp? if you choose a location such as under seat I'd forget about running in 2 ohms. they'll get too hot and will go into protection mode. a lot of emphasis is placed on RMS of an amp but remember
doubling of power(watts) results in a +3db increase in SPL....hardly noticeable. some may say my 10w7 is underpowered with my arc xxk 2500 pushing 250 watts to each sub but to be honest that outperforms my xtant x1001 pushing a 13w7. go figure.
i've started to realize this is old-school since so many amps can do this these days but look for an amp that can double it's power for every halfing of ohms i.e. 4 to 2 to 1
on rare occasion when I'm really pushing my subs I've realized (this is an assumption mind you) that it's my amp rather than my speaks that are at their limit. But, to eliminate this and get more headroom.....if I really wanted to take care of this I'd maybe be pushing each 10" with a xxk 2500 that I think does just a tad over 1k watts in mono.
it all depends on what you do with the volume control - although I'm sure the salespeople would freak - unless your music of choice is rush limbaugh (haha), I'd walk into the store with your fav disc and audition the sub and amp of choice and see where the melting point is for sub and amp. you could switch around amps to find out if point at which sound is distorted is a result of amp or simply the speaker itself. if after a few minutes the amp is too hot to touch.....I'd again move on. The reason server rooms in an IT company are cooled is the same reason amps need to run cool. My old orion sx-something or other was mounted under seat with manufacturers recommended clearance and that thing shut off so much it wasn't even funny.
ok, done with short story
