Fusible link

You're the one perpetuating the downward spiral by continuing to say "fusible link" despite being told by 5 different people that it's a fuse holder.
Stop calling it a damn fusible link...
Anyways... Since that amp is equipped with a 20 Amp fuse, you can use any fuse larger than that. But since I've never seen a 20 amp glass fuse for a car audio fuse holder, you'll probably need to go with a 40 amp. Or 60, or 80, or 100; whichever the store happens to have.
/thread??? Please?

Oh so sad.
Yes I am talking to you Booz you refuse to listen to the people trying to help, you stubbornly refuse to not call a fuse holder and fuse a fusible link, irregardless of the fact you have been told and shown what a fusible link is, is relation to a car.
The best possible information has been given to you, on more then one occasion with the info you have supplied.
Without knowing what amp you have and what gauge of power cable you are using, an exact fuse size and type can not be given.
Stop being a dick, and give up some info...
1 What is the make and model of amp?
2 What gauge is the power cable
3 What kind of fuse holder do you have?
With the above info I can tell you exactly what fuse to use, and you can call it whatever the hell you want.
Or you can keep on doing what you are doing and roll the dice like ARMED and contemplate this scene... you standing on the side of the road muttering **** **** **** ans you watch your car burn to the ground, and then latter, trying to figure out a way to kick yourself in the ***, just after your insurer tels you your not covered because a power wire was not fused within 18" of the batt.

Not to point out your genius post there... but try reading everything before posting. Read the first post- that is my fuse holder although I guess I'm wrong b/c 'if' you checked that sight you'd have seen it was a called a fusible link. And the end of that 'item' in my first post (not the metallic circle on the end) is where I need to put a fuse in.
Secondly, check my last post for my amp. In which I also stated that I will check on the gauge of the wire asap.
Besides, what you don't see is the PMs I get asking what I'm looking for so I tried to state it more clearly to get more opinions since I don't have a definite fuse size yet. I'd rather not try my trial and error and have it mess up.
kthx

i really hope you are not planning on running an amp off of 18 gauge wire, are you?
Here is what you need:
1.)Get 8 gauge wire
2.)Get a 40 amp fuse
3.)Get an inline fuse holder like this.
The fuse isnt for the protection of the amp, its for the protection of the wire. If the wire shorts out, it will blow the fuse before the wire has a chance to start melting the jacket and causing a fire.
you would need an 8 gauge wire for that amp running it in ur car. 18 gauge is way way way too small for that amp.

My wire is 10 gauge.

2)amp (not a good pic but i think you can see most of the details)- http://cincinnati.craigslist.o....html

8 gauge would work better because for the long run to the amp, 8 gauge will have less of a voltage drop. some amps say u can run 10 but i always run bigger to be safe since the amps arent close to 100% efficiency. also i saw 8 because ull have an easy time finding a fuse for it at any audio shop, even radio shack.

no, not at all for a 10 gauge wire. The fuse is supposed to be rated at the max current that is safe to run through a particular wire. I would run a max of 50 on a 8 gauge wire, let alone 60, 80 or 100 amps on a 10 gauge that is a lot smaller than a 8 gauge.
the fuse is supposed to protect the wire, not the amp. that is why i say use a 8 gauge wire if ur running it back to the trunk and use a 40-50 amp fuse

if you are blowing that many, that means you need to get a larger wire, something is actually wrong and shorting or you are using the wrong fuse.
