Default Funny thing with the stero.

Ok, so I bought this Blaupunkt (key west MP36). I connect the red and yellow from car to stero together cause thats how the stero has it. The stero turns on without the key and when I take off the face the music is still on for a few secconds then turns off.
So my question - is this normal?

it sounds like you connected the 12volt switch wire, and the constant 12volt wire together. this would not be good and would drain your battery.

the head unit should NOT be on unless the car is on, or the key is in and turned back.

It's not a problem. The lag time of the music could be the capacitors holing lots of charge or staying powered longer because it's wired for constant power. I had mine connected like this for years. If you forget to turn it off it will wear down your battery, but if your taking the face off then no problem. You can fix this problem if you want to.

You mean the red and yellow wire from the stereo you connected together? What's the M/M/Y of you car? Do you want the head unit to stay powered on when you turn the key off? The fact that the stereo stays on for a few seconds after you remove the fase plate is probably normal for that unit.

You have something hooked up wrong. Make sure yellow goes to yellow and red goes to red.... Check your connections again. The CD player should power down when you turn off the car.

I connected this stero the same way i had the other stero was. I'll check the wires again. I always connect my own steros and this is the first one that this happens.
