Default fuel pump kill switch

i found this along the way and ive been wanting to give it a try. im just not sure if it can damage anything if the car is attempted to start with the switch on. im sure there are other ways of making a kill switch, but this seems to be effective. please let me know what u guys think and if u have a better idea plz let me know. http://www.ae92gts.com/ae92gts_antitheft.html

There's nothing wrong with these passive kill devices, the only caveat is that you must push a switch every time. If you don't mind playing a contortionist every time you start the car than go for it. An alarm does it automatically and serves as a much greater deterrant.

No it does not. Kill switches (multiple) are a great addition to an alarm system if you wanna keep your car.

well as far as using a switch everytime i start my car, i dont mind. i already have the locations in mind to make it efficent for me. but here are my questions;
1. how effective is this?
2. is there a chance that anything could be damaged with the fuel pump off?

They are very effective if done properly (like the one you linked to.) Essentially they can't drive the car off with the kill engaged. They can still tow it or take their time inside the vehicle without an alarm.

Super7, alarm kills are automated when the alarm is armed. Convenience is worth a lot to me.

i already have an alarm installed that disables the ignition system. but im not to comfortable with just the alarm since a starter kill is way too common. plus, its an alarm a step below the viper. i got it for almost free if u are wondering why i bothered. but i plan on upgrading the alarm along with the kill switch mentioned. one can never have too much security. i just have to place this at the top of my priority to do list and not put it off.

The starter kill on the alarm is only as good as the install. I would say most of them are easily disabled because most alarms are poorly installed. However, if they are installed well, along with the alarm, they are very effective.

ok i got one on my CRX it doesnt do anything bad if the pump is off and you try and start your car. It takes a few seconds longer next time to start cause it has to prime fuel system.

Now I cut the leads into my cigarette lighter and used that as the switch so with the cug lighter depressed you can start your car with out it depressed it wont budge

Good luck e-mail me at: dohc16v@shaw.ca for more info

Well said. Many are poorly installed, even by those supposed high end shops. Easy way to tell is to look under your dash and take a look. See if you can find the alarm wiring and time how long it takes you to find the brain.

yup, but the main bad thing about alarm system is that theft get the manual also. as long as an alarm have a way to bypass itself, theft coould always get around it. also some high tech car-theft equipped with freq. scanner which could take ur car easily.

Most good alarms use rolling codes so a thief can't steal your code with a scanner. Alarms are defeatable because of poor install and not the harware itself.

Funny thing about the freq. scanner. Couple years ago, the DEI sales rep tried to show me how their code-hopping works and he had a freq. scanner. To demonstrate, I asked him to grab the code off of my cheap alarm I had in my beater. That freq. scanner could not get it with multiple trys

eh you'd be surprised about grabbing technology. I work for a courier company right now and one of our couriers while in LA had his cell 'grabbed' within 45 mins he had $1600 worth of charges on his phone (The phone companies fraud division called him and reversed everything...lucky!)

-Rage ..who wants a scanner now )

hey, the inline check valve for the hydraulic brake system sounds like a cool idea. Anyone know how to implement this on a honda?
