Default Extra battery or capacitor....

I dont want to kill my battery with my system so I am trying to have enough juice to cruise and bump it with out any worries. My system is a 1000/1 JL amp, 12W7 x 1, Kenwood KVT819DVD and 500/1 to power the mids and lows which will be JL audio......so what do I to power this setup?? O ya this will be on a 00 SI with stock battery.

I cant remember if the 00 SI batterys are full size or not, but if it is i would upgrade to a better battery. Optima red top would be a good choice. I wouldn't do a yellow top. It's not going to make your battery or alternator any stronger than what it is. And if thats not enough, put another battery in the back. But 1 should be fine.

The battery is mainly for when your car is off, Make sure you upgrade your alternator if you think you need something more than stock.

we are not going to turn this thread into a battery vs cap thread.

Op a bigger alternator and better battery would be the best choice for you. also the big three upgrade. There is a write up above.

Say what???

itgrowsind, as mentioned, upgrade the alt. 1500W RMS needs a lot of current, [around 200A] the only way to get that is with an alt.

Upgrading the batt. can't hurt, but by itself it is not enough.

Also as mentioned, do the "big 3". 94

Anything over 2000 R.M.S real power require an electrical upgrade. I have run a system below 1500 R.m.s power not (watts) on stocks. If you lights are dimming badly or having electrical drops then upgrade the Big 3 or battery. I don't see how 1000 R.m.S will hurts a stock electrical. If you upgrade the electrical it will sound louder. I am running over 3000 R.m.S of power and i can see how my electrical is dropping not under 12 volt.
