engine noise?
Hooked up my system and Im getting noise from the highs(polk momos) even with the car off.. in acc..
and its like a high wine noise.. and when i touch and move around the rcas at the back of the radio.. the noise changes and whatnot.
when i turn my gain up.. i get a very intense beating of the midranges back and forth violenty. (so i have it less then half now)
bad ground?
also running a cap if that matters

Sounds like you have a bad RCA wire.
Touch the ground of the RCA near your amplifier does the noise get louder?.
Which amplifier do you have?
If you have a kicker amplifier it explains your problem.

uhh..?
You probably have a bad ground. I would check the spot your grounding your amp to. And if possible try a different amp to test it. This happened to me when i fried my headunit.. so it could be your headunit too. I would personally check the amp ground first, and then swap out the headunit and see if it still does it.

it could be the way you ran your wires. did you run them all on the same side? (power, remote, RCA's)
if so keep the power and remote together (driver side) and the RCA's (pass. side)on the other side.
or like stated above bad ground or RCA's

Uhh what?? That's a perfectly valid thought. Definitely could be a bad RCA.

I would also check the grounds, not just the amp but on the HU also.

The fact that he hears the noise when the car is not on leads me to believe he has a bad ground at the RCA. Either the RCA is bad, amp RCA ground input is bad, or reciever RCA ground output is bad.
If this is truely the case, by touching the RCA ground near the amp you will hear an audible change.
Kicker multi-channel amplifiers run the RCA ground through only one cable *idiots*
If you plug the RCA into channel 3-4 the RCA does not have a ground unless another one is plugged in 1-2. But you didn't mention which amplifier you have.

yea kicker rcas suck.. i get them for like 80%off thats y i bought them.. i went into my storage and got my rcas from mid 90s.. very heavy.. and very good. no more noise..
i do however have a slight thump in my speakers and my subs when i turn the volume to zero or turn the car off.
i only had that problem like once and that was with a crappy amp. i didnt check the amp grounds yet. could that be it?

is it like a hiss noise? If it is then u can get this lil adapter that connect to ur rca calbes then it goes into ur amp. It is kinda like a filter were it stops the noise it worked for me
