Wow that's awesome. Even though it may be illegal can you explain how this works in a "scientific" point of view. You know like the same reason someone might use a radar detector .

Does it involve a power inverter?

I'd love to know too, since most honda door handles are plastic.

Maybe he put some kind of metal contact on the inside of the handle?

First, does your friend understand the meaning of a felony? Second, if all he used was caps then he is an idiot, DC doesn't hurt. If he dismantled a stun gun then that would be different but still a stupid idea.

It's not a trap. I think that my defense attorney could do a better job explaining that than Sanchez the lawyer.

Defense is nothing. It's stupid now adays... they just get a trial by jury, do some sap story to get the jury on their side, and you're screwed. That's how people get sued when someone breaks in and hurts themselves, or tresspasses and hurts themselves, etc. All these pathetic law suites are stupid if you ask me

They do this a lot in Europe in places where car jacking is a really big problem. It's not going to do anything to protect theft though. If someone got shocked while you away from the car, they'd probably just really **** it up afterwards.

For the person that said DC doesn't hurt, tell the person that told you this they are smoking crack.

All you need is the voltage to be high enough to travel across the skin. Anything above 33 volts is considered high voltage. Anthing below 33 volts is considered low voltage and safe to handle with your hands.

Whoever the idot is probably took a stun gun apart and wired it to the door. Whatever he did its a really bad idea. If the current is to high you can kill someone. If some little kid gets shocked while your at your local K-mart your srewed. Touching your car isn't a crime. Lifting up on the handle isn't a crime. Shocking someone that you cant prove was breaking in your car IS.

Not to mention the fact that if someone finds out, all they have to do is avoid the outside door handles. Go in through the window and open the car with the inside handle.

Your friend is probably lying. 99 times out of a 100, when someone talks about something like this it is bullshit. I knew a bunch of people like that in high school. "Yeah, I hooked a motorcycle coil to my body panels. You touch it and you will get thrown back 10 feet!!!" "Yeah, okay" *rolls eyes*

Being that it is in a car it would be safe to assume that it is 12V, but perhaps I should have been more clear with my statement.

All I can say I've layed a wrench across neg and pos...let me tell you...it'll get your attention. No, I didn't do it on purpose...

The idea is seriously good, but bad as far as the law goes. ESPECIALLY in court saying "what if a kid had touched it?"

All of this together is why I plan to (I haven't researched exactly HOW to do it, but I'm GONNA make it happy) get a 2way (probably..) viper alarm with auxillary option, and wire that to a pump that sounds a horn on the inside of the car. Oh, no, children, not just a car horn...I'm gonna try to find one from like a freight liner or a freight train :D

Once done, I'm gonna call up a friend I REALLY don't like so I can test it out...

Never assume, 12 volts is not enought to shock you let alone stun you. Unless you stick your tongue on it. Usually stun guns are in the 50,000 volt and above range.

*shakes head* can't believe I posted twice on this.

Looking for a 2way alarm? Check here
https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...90132

Why not rig up a sensor into the door handle, opposed to shocking it will trigger alarm.

And how does one legally get away with an electric fence? If a kid walks by and touches it, he will still get zapped. Maybe put a warning on the car not to touch?
