Default ef with sub's.....pic?

Just curious.... I might get a discount on a new kenwood 10 or 12'.....I just wanted to see how much room it might take up in the rear hatch.

Pictures would be great.
*** mod I would put this in the audio forum but figured I get better luck here.... move if needed.

Thanks

lol my two 10's take up pretty much all of the trunk. i can fit like a shoebox on both sides of the box and little space in front. You could probably make boxes smaller than spec. i'll get pics when i get home.

What is the recommended volume for your Kenwoods?
What shape of box are you doing - just a box or custom to fit?

I built a custom box for a 10, it fits in the corner of my trunk in between the shock tower and brake light.
It wasn't fast or easy, and I used 5/8 plywood to save some weight ( compared to MDF).
Its smaller than what the speaker calls for but it doesn't matter It still sounds fine, unless you're really obsessed this is fine. And it doesn't really take up any useful space anyway.

I used to have a box in the middle of my trunk, I got tired of it taking up basically all the space in the trunk.

Why not just put some 4 way 6x9's in the rear speaker area, good 6 1/2s in front and get an amp to power them well?
Oh, you wanna be able to hear over the stripped interior and loud exhaust

It's a 10' kenwood
1000W peak
300W Continuous
The recommended box is 1" cub.ft.

I've never been a stereo guy, mainly because I listen to a lot of talk-radio. But recently was in a car that sounded nice. I just like to be able to turn up the volume on those rare occasions (club, long drives, ect)....

I only want a 10" ... (even though my buddies say two 12" are a standard)
But I should be fine with just a 10" + amp + 4 decent 6.5" speakers (f/r)

I just wanted some visual pictures of how some EF hatch/sedan guys have theirs mounted and how much space it takes up.

2 12's is not the standard

sub size isn't as nearly important as the enclosure it goes in

a decently powered 8 or 10 should be enough for you.
