i got an eclipse audio head unit (model#5331) that was in my friends car when he purchased it from prestige acura 1 year ago. He changed his battery and the head unit kept blinking "SECURITY SECURITY" and then finally refused to power on. Obviously the ESN antitheft will not allow this to be used without the proper codes in place! i'd like to make use of the player, so if anyone knowledgable has any suggestions please let me know. Is there a way to hack it? Going thru the factory may be more money than its worth, just wondering how much/ and /or is it worth the money.

Find the security cd or your going to have to call Eclipse.

 

Yeah, the first cd ever put in the unit becomes the security cd, you need that cd to get it to work, I think you can go through eclipse but probably be easier if you bought it new.

 

Bad news. You have to send the radio to Eclipse for it to be reset.

 

damn do they suck.. wonder how much it will cost. i emailed them like 2 weeks ago about the unit and havent heard back. hmm...

 

i got an eclipse 55040 head unit and i had the same thing happen to me. i bought it off a friend and i undid the battery and it killed the power to the head unit. i had to hunt him down and get the cd. without it you're SOL pal.

 

A friend of mine used to do this mod to bypass the esn, this was back in vancouver like 5 year or more years ago.

Try seaching the web, some one must have a diy on this...

Once you choose a security CD can you change it? I don't think so, but what if you were to sell your old HU? Would you have to include the cd too, because they are for sale all the time on ebay?
