do i NEED a RELaY

It probably requires more power than the stock horn so a relay allows the new horn to get current directly from the battery instead of from the OEM horn wiring, which is probably super thin. The wiring harness with the aftermarket horn will probably use the OEM horn wire as a trigger and have another wire that goes directly to the battery. Thats how the plug-n-play HID wiring harnesses work atleast. If your horn stops working for some reason then you may have blown a fuse, which is another reason why the wiring harness is probably a better route.

A relay lets you use a low current switch, [ 150-250 mA] to trigger the relay, [a relay is a switch] and the relay supplies the high current, [25 - 30A] the input to the relay would be wired to the batt. the output to the horn and the trigger can be wired, [pos. (+) or neg. (-)] the stock horn button is neg. (-) but the output to horn is pos. (+)
