Default Distribution Block

So I want to make a 12v ignition/accessory distribution block. Is it as easy as finding an existing 12v ignition/accessory and splitting it to a power block?

For any accy's that need 12v ignition really. An amp, head unit, alarm components, gauges, custome lighting if I decide to go that route. But more because I want the ability to expand easily if I needed/wanted to.

Just buy an auxiliary fuse box... http://www.wiringproducts.com/conten...FacZQgodZxEiHQ easy as that. 94

I'd also think about what you want to hook up..

An amp, head unit, alarm components

The ignition required by those units are near 0. The alarm components will really run off of the alarm (or it's triggers) and tend to be hooked into constant 12 volt and use the channels off of the alarm to determine when to work.

The amp doesn't need an acc or ignition feed, you use the remote turn on off of the head unit, etc.

Also, determine the load you'll be running. It may be better to use a relay and pull power right from the battery if you're planning to really load down the accessory line.

You can use something like this: http://pac-audio.com/productDetails....&CategoryID=31
(same product can also be found under the Scosche name rather than PAC). It's a 80 amp continuous/150 amp surge relay you can trigger off of the a stock acc line.
You'd really only need that though if you're really adding a lot of items to your distribution box.

I have to agree, for alarm and audio you do not need any more circuits, and if all you are adding is some more lights, at the most all you need is a relay and an inline fuse. 94

Thanks guys. Im just ripping appart my car and cleaning things up for the last and final time. I guess i wouldnt need one if i really thought it through. I like the idea of a relay off of the main battery. Would i need one for every accessory? Or run one to an aux fuse box? Any diagrams i can follow?

you could just put it between the battery and the fuse/distribution block. It would make the whole distribution block accessorized (only power up when the key's on). You just hook it inline. There two bigger posts.. use one as input and one as output, and then a smaller post that's your control post (ie> when that post has +12v, the relay is on, when no voltage relay is off) and another small post for the ground connection. Pretty simple to install.

It depends on how many "accessories" you add, keep in mind the stock under dash fuse box has "free pins" for adding more accessories to you car.

There will be one that is 12V+ constant, [hot at all times] a 12V+ 2nd ign., [hot in run only] and a 12V+ park light, [hot when park/head lights are on] there may be others, depends on MM&Y of car.

You should not have to add anything but inline fuses or at most a small aux fuse box if you have a lot of acc. to add. 94
