i just went to good guys to get a sub. I had a choice between jl 10w1v2 or eclipse sw6130dvc. my amp is a jl pumping 120rms and i think the 10w1 woulda been perfect. but the salesman convinced me to get the eclipse. he told me it was 300w but it was really 200w. I kinda regret it now cuz the jl woulda matched with my amp. I cant return it cuz all sales are final. I think the JL cost more buit it cant be more than 20 bucks. damn i kinda regret it. I paid 80 out the door for the eclipse. is eclipse even a good brand?
Did you mean the Eclipse SW6103DVC http://www.eclipse-web.com/sw6100/sw6103.html a 200W "RMS" 10 DVC sub as I have never heard of and can't find a SW6130DVC?
The JL 10w1v2 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...id=15 comes in 4 or 8 ohm, and is a 150W "RMS" sub.
Although both are good brands, [I have Eclipse speakers in my 94 teg] and have installed both the Eclipse and JL subs, I am not a big fan of the "metallic" cones, [ metal alloy on the Eclipse, metallic-finish polypropylene on the JL] IMO they have a "brighter" sound then some of the more tradisional materials, [even just polypropylene]
That said, I think you are right, I also would have preferred the JL Audio sub, however, I assume the JL amp you have is an e1200 http://mobile.jlaudio.com/prod...d=257 and it will make 200W RMS into a 2 ohm load at 12.5V and 275W RMS into a 2 ohm load at 14.5V, so as long as the box is properly built for the Eclipse sub, it should sound just fine, and I bet anyone would have a hard time hearing any diff. between the two of them.
