Default DICE R2 Unit - Issue with Random Play

I love my DICE kit, but since I've had it I've noticed issues with playing songs through random.

The playlist will only go up to track 63 (randomly though) and then it will stop playing. Just no sound. All songs play before that song.

When I don't play randomly and just switch from song to song (track mode - in order) I have no problems.

I haven't yet used the playlist mode or album mode enough to notice any issues with them.

Currently I have all my music on one big playlist. I was hoping that might figure something out with the random play issue, but it didn't help.

This is all in a '98 Civic with '99-'00 Civic Si radio/CD player. I have no CD changer, but I do have a stock sub and amp hooked up (which plugs in through the main harness). I'm using the i-Honda-R2 kit.

Default Re: DICE R2 Unit - Issue with Random Play

I know this might seem late, but I returned to this thread because I ended up having another issue with the DICE kit.

The unit would no longer play. What would happen (at best), is I would plug the unit in and whatever was already playing on the iPod would play for about a solid second before it would cut off. If I was playing, for example, song five of a playlist, it would play a second of that song, cut off, and then a few seconds later would play the first second of the first track in the playlist, then cut out again.

All I did was flip the iPod configuration DIP switches to ON.

DICE interface for iPod
for selected Honda/Acura vehicles

Installation Guide/User Manual

Dip switches

The configuration switches located on the DICE module are used to set the operation of the interface by the installer. Incorrect dip switch settings may cause the DICE interface not to work properly or not to operate at all. Disconnect the vehicle harness from module and cycle ignition off for 50 seconds after changing the switches!

(image showing that UP = OFF, DOWN = ON)

Dip switch settings

Car configuration switches
Settings

CD changer (CDC)
Dip switch 1 = OFF
Dip switch 2 = OFF
Switches should remain in the default OFF position.

iPod configuration switches
Settings

"Locked"
Dip switch 1 = OFF
Dip switch 2 = OFF
It is best selected when Text display is supported by the radio. After connecting the iPod you will see the DICE logo on the screen. After the initialization the iPod will be locked for an increased interface function.

"iPod"
Dip switch 1 = ON
Dip switch 2 = ON
It is best selected when Text display is NOT supported by the radio. Track numbers and times are not synchronized between the iPod and radio. Because there is less data transfer between the iPod and radio, this mode has the fastest response time. Content is selected on the iPod.

It could be an encoding issue in the track (corrupt header etc) that's making the software crash.
