After I installed a new receiver in my '95 civic coupe my dashboard light stopped working. Included in the wire harness that snap into the new receiver was a red w/ black stripe wire for the Dash Light Dimmer, this wire (red w/ black stripe) is not connected because there's no matching wire in the new receiver. On my new receiver, I have 2 unused wires; Power control/Motor antenna control wire and Tel mute wire. Can I use one of the unused wires to connect into the Dash Light Dimmer wire (red w/ black stripe)?

Your dash lights stopped working because you have wired up the illumination wire off the deck incorrectly and blown a fuse.

 

It was a blown fuse, it must have blew while working on my stereo installation. All wiring connections were good.
