Default dash lights wtf

i installed a new headunit and now my dashlights and gauge lights are on when the headlights are off then turn off when i put my headlights or running lights on...wtf

You have miswired the HU, probably "back-feeding" 12V+ to the illumination lead.
Did you use a harness adapter, or is the new HU "hard-wired" to stock radio harness?

What is the MM&Y of the car?
what is the make/model of HU? 94

its a 2002 accord.. had to be hard wired to the car because plug was already cut... and a pioneer headunit..

Pull the HU and check the red lead, [illumination ground from DLBC switch] and the red/black, [illumination power] the red should not be used at all and should be capped off, the red/black should be used only if the HU has an illumination input, if not it should also be capped off. 94

fixed problem...the red/black needed to be capped....much appreciated!
