Default Could this work?

I had an idea sparked by my girlfriends truck getting broke into the other day. They broke the window popped the hood and had someone cut the posative battery cables going to the battery so the alarm would not go off when they opened the door. My questioin is could i put some sort of additional power source like a battery hidden in the trunk powering the alarm so if they cut the wires under the hood it wont kill the alarm? If this would work anyone have any ideas on how to make this happen? What wires would need to be run and where would they be connected to? Remember this is just some crazy idea i've come up with please let me know if its been done before or can be done.

Thanks
