Default Contemplating Subs or Components

Well I have about $400-500 to spend on subs and an amp and about $200 to spend on components. I am not going to do both at the same time. I just got a new Alpine 9805 h/u and it made the stock speakers sound sooo much better. However they have no bass. I can live with the stock speakers for now, so I was thinking of putting in subs first.

Well here is my question here: 2 10" subs, 1 12" sub, or 2 12" subs? Infinity, Polk, Alpine, or Sony? I went to cirtcuitcity yesterday to check out the subs and one polk/momo sub was awesome. Then the alpine R came in next. They didnt have any infinities, and the sony sucked ***. Now I like to listen to mostly rock and sometimes rap, but I don't want my ears to be blown out, but I want potential for my sub(s).

What kind of amp should i have to power them? I was looking at a mono for one sub and a 2-way if I did 2-subs. The Sony amps are cheap and I was thinking of going with one of those, but I also looked at the alpine and they worked well. Then the audiobahn seemed really awesome. Anyone have any ideas? Again I'm not looking for something to blow my brain out, cause i like classic rock, rock, acoustic stuff, but I listen to techno and some rap too.

Now for component speakers I was looking at some Infinity KAPPA ones, anything else that is good?

infinity kappas, good for the money...from what i hear. just replace the rear fills in the back, run them off yer head unit. run maybe a two channel amp to the 6.5 infinity kappas component set in front.

sub, i'd get one 12" in a ported enclosure.
ask vteg what dimensions it should be
if people tell you ported makes the sq suck, that's because they never made one right. i'm not sure what your exact budget is on a sub, but check out the IDMAX. eclusive internet dealer is sounddomain.com ...i think one 12 is a lil over 300...a lil cheaper on ebay. i would stay away from audiobahn and sony. especially with the amps. but that's just me.

ask rcurley55 about the idmax...and vteg about the box dimensions

yeah i am thinking of going sealed enclosure, dimensions will be easy to do. Im thinking of doing a wedge box with subs facing the backseat. Then attaching the amp to the back, makes it easy to remove

Go look at some stuff at an actual car audio shop, not Circuit City.

now when you guys amplify your front components do you use a 2-channel amp? where do you put the amp?

Do you put the amp in the trunk and run the RCA all the way to the trunk and run the speaker wire all the way to the trunk?

If I am going to put in components am I going to want to put in new speaker wire too?

IDMAX is a great subs...a friend of mine has one in his audi, but he wants to spend 400-500 on a sub and an amp. that leaves 100-200 for an amp which i dont think would be enough for an appropriate amp for an IDMAX.

Hehe, that's why you buy my IDMAX d2 V2 NIB for way less then SD will sell it to you for and then you have enough for an amp

Sorry for the shameless plug, but a guy's got to do what he's got to do. Did I mention I have amps too :D
