compustar question please help!
i recently ordered a compustar 2w900FMAS alarm, and i specifically ordered it for a manual transmission. they sent me the an alarm brain for an automatic. they are allowing me to send it back, but i have to pay shipping, etc. plus i'll have to wait like 10 business days and i have an installer already lined up who's doing it on the side, and i would like to get this installed this weekend. he installs alarms for a living and he said he's pretty sure there is something he can do to the alarm brain to make it work for a manual car (he said it was only a matter of soldering some jumper?). now is it possible to do this somehow? or am i gonna have to ship it back and wait forever to get the right one? i know im impatient, and some of you might say just send it back. BUT is it possible?!
As far as it being possible I'm not sure, but I would not risk it because you will obviously void the warranty on the unit. It is not worth the risk just because you are impatient. Just ship it back and get the correct unit.

well since he ordered it online from someone thats not a dealer there is no warranty on the brain anyways. There are no online dealer for compustar. The only way is if you know someone. It would be better to send it back because if he messes it up. The store might refuse to fix it with there tech. So it would be better to wait. Compustar will not touch it with a ten foot pole for any reason.
Ditto the above.
If you got it online there is no warranty...

I have never seen a Compustar for automatics only, they did make one for standards only for the Canadian market, it was the same brain as the rest but instead of having the wire loop to cut for automatics, the two spots on circuit board was connected with a solder "jump", I have turned a few of them into "for automatic transmission only" by using a dremel tool to cut the solder jump, same as cutting the wire loop.
I assume you could just connect the two spots on the circuit board with a solder jump so reservation mode will work.
Slide open the small door on brain, and see if the wire loop is still there but cut.
