compustar alarm range question??
so i bought my alarm off ebay...its the compustar 2wss-as or whatever..the one with the remote start....and i put it on myself...everything works great just had a little question about the antenna...
i put the antenna in the middle of my windshield and the installation guide shows that it has to be in the upper left-hand corner and i saw that after i put it up in the middle of the window...could this affect how far the range would go??
it goes pretty far but i thought it would go a little farther...

A lot of things will effect range, and unless there is a metallic tint on the windshield where you place it will make less of a diff. then how you place it, vertically or horizontally.
I always place them horizontally in the middle about an inch from the upper edge of the glass, it seems to work the best from all directions.

I have the antena placed where the manual says and it's not that great. Maybe it's fine when you take into account all the disctractions in the way, but I feel just the same way as you, like "I thought it would be farther"

Yes, grounding point has alot to do with range. Grounding in the dash is usually not a good idea. Alarms/starters should be grounded to the body of the car. Scrape the paint off a spot on the kick panel, and use a screw and star washer.
