Default Component Tweet location...

hello all...

I'm trying to decide where to put my tweeters in my componet set.... I dont like the kick panel idea cuz i got the whole clutch pedal, and with two people, i think they'll be blocked. (i know... ) I'm thinking about two places... either making a custom pieces below both A pilars OR mounting them where the defrost vents are, facing them directly up on the dash reflecting off the windshied.... Does any of that sound like a good idea ?...

Thanks!

Mount the woofer and crossover, but don't permanently mount the tweeter. Stick the tweeter on temporaily with double sided stick tape to find the location that sounds best.

I'd try the kickpanel (yeah, I know you think you won't like them there) right by the edge where the bottom door pillar and the other pillar perpenducular to it intersect. Or mount them in the sail panel.

You can try the A-pillar, but depending on the tweeter dome material, it might sound overly bright or harsh.

the tweeters are old skool orion silk domes, they sound silky smooth... i really want to have a full range sound in the front, so i'm putting in 4in speakers in maybe the tweeter locations (widening the hole a little), and putting in some 5 1/4 in the other door location.... essentially i'll have a 3-way speaker in front...and my 10 inch sub pounding in the back... I guess kick panels with the tweeter and 4 in speaker + the 5 1/4 in the stock location might be nice too...hrm...

i still want to try the tweeters reflecting off the windshield... have you heard anone else doing that... i would think sound wise/location it would be perfect...

Sorry...should have included that info...

1999 Integra GSR ...clover green/beige leather interior/razor blade wheelz ... only mod past stereo is...i'm about to get an AEM CAI...

i've been reading about it on google, it seems mixed... but there seem to be some trends...

1) place all speakers in the component set together...
2) get the greatest path away from you...so the paths become as close to
as even as possible...

i still think i'm gonna try sticky taping the tweeters and see if they sound good on the dash....

Glass makes treble sound like crap, we think you'll agree if you try this.

Why don't you just stick the tweeter in the location of the stock tweeter? It just will take some shaving of the fiberglass there at worst which isn't a hard tast. If they are too bright/harsh for you there, just point them more away from you.
