Component speakers question.
What component speakers do you recommend for 95 Accord LX front doors? price top ~$200. Also, Do i have to use an amp with them?
Currently i'm looking at Nakamichi SPS6500 set, Infinity Reference 6000cs
and Polk Audio db6500. Whats the best place to install tweeters
in 5th gen accord?

no idea on what to choose, but I guarantee, you wont get the sound you want out of some nice high quality speakers, let alone components without sufficient power. You will want an amp... ever since I got one, I'd never go unamped again.
The DBs are the only ones that are "standard 6 1/2 in. " and have the same bolt patterns as the stock speaker, [if your Accord came with 6 1/2 in speakers] you may still have to cut out the back of the OEM speaker mount, to fit the magnet of the DB

i have the Infinity 6000cs......i love the sound produced by these comps. i had the Kappa component set, but the midwoofer distorted alot at about 80hz.....i bought the Reference instead and wow....amazing quality, and a LOWER pricetag....
any component set you choose, amp them subtley, and you will not be dissapointed

ive often thought about cutting that rain/water guard behind the door speakers myself, and replacing it with something larger for a better sound... do you think it would help? Have you done something like that?

[/QUOTE Although I do have F/G cabinets for my rear 6.5", and have tried cabinets for front speakers, they have never worked as well as just mounting the speakers "freeair", because of windows, [having to be able to roll them down all the way] the cadinets have been too small, I get much better performace out of the speaker by replacing the plastic OEM speaker mount with a custom MDF one, and Dynamating the door.
Also I never cut all the rain guard off, [if using the stock speaker mount] I just cut a hole, just big enough for the magnet to fit through, [water can't hurt the magnet].
Anytime I make a custom MDF speaker mount I install a plastic "drape" to protect not only the speaker but also the MDF from water

yeah I was looking at a drape type thing, that would somehow not touch the magnet, for any resonation... but this would make the open space much larger, maybe making it sound better
