Default clarion experts

so my 6-disc changer took a sh*t the other day(the very same day my pc crashed), and i'm in dire need of another one. the shop that i trust says theres no replacement currently on the market

the last thing i want to do is get a new head unit, so here are some photos of what i'm workin with(the plug configuration is apparently obsolete)

head unit

the changer

the damage

the plug configuration

so what are my options here? is there some kind of adaptor i can use for a newer model? or am i up the 'creek?'

please help!!!

If you can get ahold of the pinout's for both (old and new changer) you could obviously cut the old plug off and splice a new one on (I'm pretty sure that they're functionally the same). IMO it would be a lot easier to just get a new head-unit and forgoe a changer for a little while. Why so opposed to a new head unit? Some of the new ones are bada**.

why not just get a new head unit thats a CD head unit.. your old unit is a tape deck right? anyway maybe you can try E-bay to see if anyone is selling your model number CD changer.... or if you get the pin outs for what each pin/wire does you can probably splice and convert it to work w/ the newer changers... did you ask the shop if theres a ready made adapter for that?

maybe check out crutchfield and see if they have any suggestions

http://www.crutchfield.com you can also call their customer service and ask...

they were pretty helpful when I wanted to know if a newer changer (2002 model) would work w/ my older head unit (2000 model)
