Default cd changer in glove box help

i am looking to relocate my factory 6-disk cd changer from my trunk into my glove box. i am really sick of having to go into my trunk to change cd's, and i never think of it until i am already driving so i have the same 6 cd's all the time and they are getting pretty old. i searched and couldnt find anything that really helped me too much.

i have a 97 civic EX and looking for any info or a write up possibly if anyone has one. pictures would be great. i just need to know if it will even fit and how much of the back of my glove box i will need to cut. any info would be great.

thanks

there is a alittle triming that has to be done. Actullay there is alot of cutting. once you do it and you want to take it out. you are going to have to replace it. I have done it to a da and a new teg. It also depends of the changer. some are more bulky then others. I will check for pics. Its not hard just time consuming. you can do it if you have proper tools.

I would look into XM or Sirius radio instead. Nobody even buys cd changers anymore. Where are you going to keep your registration?

Some times if you only need a little extra clearance instead of cutting out the back of glove box you can heat it with a heat gun and push the changer in and have the heated plastic sort of bend and form around the changer. This way you dont have to worry about having **** drop out of the hole or if you want to remove it you glove box wont be useless.

well, i already have teh cd changer in my trunk and i am just looking to relocate it. i dont really want to spend more money on the stereo with XM or anything. i dont want a crazy system, just make it easier to change my cd's. i will either keep my registration in my center console or keep a little space in the glove box still.

Should not be a big deal, some cutting of the back of the glove box and some custom mounting brackets.

I have my Alpine changer mounted in the airbag spot on my 94 LS, I cut the tray to fit the face of the changer, [the 94 LS did not come with an airbag] made some custom mounting brackets, mounted as low as I could, so the glove box still opened, and if I throw a street map in the tray you can't see the changer. I have even removed the airbag for a few customers with Tegs because they liked the idea of having the changer up front.

What I would do is remove the glove box and see if the changer will sit back far enough to close the glove box if you hang it horizontally, and if it will, cut the back of the glove box enough to miss the changer when it's opened and closed, that way you would still have use of part of the glove box, if you want to install it into the glove box itself, make sure you have enough room behind the glove box, before you cut the box up. 94

that is what i was hoping to find out....if it will fit behind the glove box because i am not worried about the cutting or it actually fitting in the glove box. Just if it will fit behind it. well, i am off of work on Thursday so i guess i will just give it a try then. I would still like to find some pictures if anyone has any but thanks for all the info guys.

its not the factory one but its about the same size. just dropped the glove box down to run the wire to the the head unit (at the top left in the glove box) then just put the changer without the bracket and just put stuff on the side so it dont slide around.

i was thinking about that because one of my buddys works at Best Buy so i can get one for a good price but i figured, if i can get it in there, why spend money on a new deck? that is definately an option though. Thanks
