okay after reading through the autoblog post...
haven't gone to the civic forum...
i dunno what is going on...
the fax number is CT, the dealership is Long Island, NY
and the CC is in Illinois...
with only 800 on the odo, this is a lil iffy...
tho those pictures do say alot, and his neat lil vid, shows how crappy the install was...
and how bad some employees are...
thing is his "quote" from North Shore, is a complete rip...
a few things listed, seemed a bit off..... or unnecessary..
like the glass scratches... >__>
but other than that.. its a mess..
===
eh, nvm.. he moved from il to ny...

from the vid its kind of hard to say. I am hearing both sides of the story that he did not want to wait for the harness to come in. As a manger I would of turned down the install. Or had him sign a waiver of splicing into the factory harness. Cc self insured loss will take care of that.
according to the story, he did sign a waiver...
what i don't understand, is why was it taken apart in the first place?
but the harness didn't look like it was done well...or the dealership made it look worse...

There is something wrong with this.. I don't see how awful the installation is from those pics. So they cut a vent? I've done the same thing... **** I have completely removed them and the customer never complained. I agree, they should have notified the customer of the extent of the modifications...
BUT
That dealership ripped him a new *******. Unless there was an electrical fire, there is no way a HEAD UNIT installation would cause 12k in damage.

i smell some BS here. ive tapped into plenty of cars wiring directly behind the oem plug, when an aftermarket plug isnt available. IF DONE CORRECTLY there is nothing wrong with this.(its actually in bby's SOP to do this) and they dont show any of the speaker installation, just the tweeter grills popped off. i can see being pissed about the air duct being cut though. i wouldnt want to cut mine. but on the other hand alot of customer dont take no or it wont fit for an answer. i dunno i think theres some BS, and that whole **** about " my family and friends"
STFU. and possible fire???? more like a possible blown fuse. they didnt say anything about any unfused wires being ran.
i think we need to see more of this, or hear from the circuit installer.

That's slander. That's like me saying "I heard fcm killed three kids, but I don't know any details about it. Pretty interesting to see how this plays out. Here's some pics of some kids graves. And here's a work order that I stole off the counter and wrote some BS with my own crappy handwriting".
CC would have a case to sue the website for this BS.
We don't need all this hype and nonsense to know that yes, with some many stores in a national chain, and so many employees, some cars do get damaged by incompetent installers. It all comes down to the individual store management, shop senior, and the installer. Does that mean you can't go to any Circuit City? No. You find yourself a good store and stick to it. And if you go somewhere and the shop is a mess, the installer has a cardboard box for his tools, and the shop senior is a dick to you, then take your business elsewhere.

I am an installer at a CC in pa. and i have done this numerous times for new civic owners. The reason for it is cause we cant get the new civic harrness yet so instead of cutting off the harrness and never being able to put back in the factory radio (which we do for free) we splice in behind the harrness. I didnt watch the whole video but 12k in damages is the dealership replacing most likely the, radio, complete wiring harness and most likely more. I mean every place you go to will make mistakes that is the nature of installing and electronics its how they get fixed when the customer comes back that makes them a good place to go. If he didnt go back to the store to have them look at it and take care of it first then he doesnt have a right to be bitching and saying CC cant install. There are tons of good installers out there that care about what everyones car looks like just like they would their own.
I've read about this on another site, and it sounds like the original owner was complaining about something very simple in the first place and was getting the run around by circuit city. He had some simple scratches on his dash and circuit city wouldn't do anything about.

Well........No that statement isn't really correct. When you care about what you do and your reputation you ensure things go out the door correct the first time. You don't depend on the customer to bring back your screw ups so you can "fix" them. They should have never gone out the door in the first place.
I guess its just a state of mind you either get or you don't get.
They should have turned down the install if they weren't 110% confident they could do it right JMO.
Cutting the heater duct was really dumb. He could possibly have a claim with that. Wiring is an easy fix. But unless that ducting is easy to get to they will have to remove the dash. CC better hope they held onto that release form. A claim of $12k is just really stupid and shows this guys true colors. I would do the same thing CC is doing and fight it.
