Default CB question.

Ok. Stepping away from the Sol. I'm putting a CB in my truck. My question is about the atennaa. I have one that is roughly seven feet tall. Can I run it through the frame so I can keep my stock look? I also thought about just mounting it under the truck, but I also go offroading and dont want it to get ripped off.

LOL, under the truck, no.

Your CB ant needs to be mounded vertically, must be grounded properly and the SWR "tuned" properly, if not done properly at the very least you will have poor reception/transmission, at worst you can blow the output. 94

Laughing at me? Hey could only hope the best. What if I mount the base to a steel bracket I fabricate under the truck and run the antenna between the cab and the bed? I think it might be too tall so can I bend it and mount it to the tonneau cover? I see some trucks with the antenna bent like I'm saying. But 94 said vertical...

Best bet, replace the the ant. with a roof mount.

You could do the "between box and cab" if height is not an issue, but bending it will only effect range for both reception and transmission. 94

CB ant. come in all sizes, for a CB to work properly, [transmit] it has to be a proper CB ant. designed for the CB you have and it must be installed and connected properly, read... http://home.att.net/~wizardoz/cbmw/antenna_fabri.html.

No you can not use your siren as a PA horn. 94

No joke, they really are tall.

My dad used to have a K40 antenna 20 years ago, I do remember it being pretty tall.

Everytime he'd go in a parking structure he'd have to stop and unscrew it from the base. LOL
