Carpet padding is a good alternative to Dynamat
So I took the advice of some HT peeps and stuffed the rear sides of my coupe with carpet padding. Meaning I took off the panels and stuffed the space between the outter finder and the subframe behind the panel. I also laid a 2' sqr. piece under the panel of the rear deck ( panel under rear windshield).
I must say I am impressed with it so far, it weighs nothing and is free in any local aparement complex. I just walked around mine and found some guys replacing hte carpet in some apartment and asked if they had any new padding left over. Bada Bing! Free!
I am planning on laying a strip under the driver/passanger foot wells, which should take care of a good deal of the civic road noise problem.
The reason I am doing this insted of Dynamat is the weight factor. I actually have a 13 sqr. ft. of the stuff, but that sheet weighs like 10 lbs! Its basically enough to do both doors of my coupe. Funk that!
This may seem getto to you ignorant folk, but it works and its light. So there!
Just sharing my experience.
No I don't have any pics btw.

if you've got enough bass in your trunk to warrant sound deadening...then i don't think the 10 pounds of dynamat is really gonna hurt you....****, does your car feel slow with A bag of groceries? i dont think so....ten pounds equates to .01 seconds off your ET....if you've got the material...do it right or send it my way
besides...if your all about weight savings...why do you have in interior anyway?

and putting anything behind the trimpanels that can hold moisture up against the inside of the outside sheetmetal skin of the car is just a rust bomb that will go off, that is why they they have vents back there, to get rid of the condensation.

I haven't put any in the trunk, I was talking about in the cabin behind the rear side panels. As far as moisture, yes that could be a factor. However more cushy rides have padding under all the carpet on the floor. If it wasn't a good idea then they would have used somthing else.
I donno, it can't hurt anything imo. Its not like it would hard to replace it in a year or so.
