i am going to be running a 1000bd rockford amp to a jl 12w7 and i need a capacitor. I was thinking about a rockford 1 farad with a digital display or a audiobahn 1 farad with a digital display. the rockford is only like $10-15 more than the audiobahn. Which would you go with or does it matter which one is better?
That is correct, go ahead w/the fosgate if you want it to "match" your amp, or look on ebay and put down a little more cash and get a batcap, it will help drastically over the cap.
The same contractor that makes the caps for audiobahn, makes them for RF and Streetwires as well.
go to http://cmttrading.com and get yourself a couple of 1.0f digital top caps from Legacy for the same price as one from a major brand. I have two Legacy 1.0f caps running in my trunk, one to my alpine 540 and one to the 500 (sub). They work flawlessly and the readouts are exact to the tenth of a volt when compared with a high end meter. Your ears simply won't hear the difference between caps, but your alternator will thank you. I, however, completely understand the desire to brand match, I did that for years.

1 Farad cap aint gonna do you right for 1000bd, hell it isnt gonna do much of anything for an amp half that pwr.
Get a batcap or one of the 15+ farad caps like alumapro/phoenix gold, they are all made by the same company.
You would also be better off to get an alternator that can charge the caps quickly enough for them to work, and a good battery before you get the caps. They should be one of the latter power upgrades for the system IMHO.

in my civic i have the aem pulley kit and it has the alternator pulley with it with makes it move faster, does that help the system any? I am probably going to go with a optima yellow top 500 cc and just a 1 farad cap for now and see how that works and if i need more power i guess i will have to get a new larger alternator. Who sells bigger alternators for civic's?
