Bypass help
actually, a quick pic of the back would do wonders in clearing this up. i've installed more pioneer in-dash units than i can care to count, and never had a d3 by bypassed by a simple switch only... doesn't happen.
if you do snap a pic, make sure you get a good close-up of the plugs themselves.
the only thing i can possibly think of would be a situation similar to the first-gen z1's that came out. they were set up so that a quick +12v pulse down the illumination wire during boot would render the gyro safety useless. perhaps there was something similar with your d3?

this is the only thing i missed is your post. i do not have the speed sensor hooked up. its really not necessary. the avic-d3 has such a great gps antenna there is no need to hook up speed sensor. that may be the difference between what your tests and my tests show. my unit works flawlessly without the speed sensor and it is only intended to the gps map accurate when you are driving incase there is no gps coverage. </TD></TR></TABLE>
I tried it your way to day and could not get my d3 to play no more then 15 min without shutting off. I tried it with the speed sencer and it pickedup in 5 min. With out it about 15-20 min it would shut off the video. I not going to call you a liar but something is not right with your unit or you got a freak. Your method was tried when the unit first came out and i would not work that way. If you got it to work that way more powerto you. I bet you can't do it on a new one, lol
