Blowing Fuses
Installd a new HU, speakers and an alipine power pack inline amp this past weekend. Now when i started turning up the volume on the HU while playing a CD it cut off and blew the 7.5 fuse under the hood. All my connections are soldered and shrink tubed and the ground is fine.
I than looked in the car and saw that the Radio fuse there is a 10a fuse. Is there a reason they are staggered like this and should i use a 10 under the hood? I called crutchfield about it and all i got was its a short somewhere but i really cant figure where. the fuse on the power pack is good.
I tried a 10a fuse in there and i noticed that the radio turned on A LOT quicker than with the 7.5 in the underhood box and that i had no issues with turning it up or anything but i dont want to fry anything so i didnt keep it there

Never ever replace fuses with "bigger" ones, it could result in your car burning to the ground.
Pull the HU and rewire the 12V constant power, disconnect any wire, [yellow] connected to the stock radio harness 12V constant, run a fused 12/10 gauge lead from the batt. to behind the HU and connect any 12V constant from the Alpine HU, [and inline amp if it has one] the stock 12V constant was not designed to supply the current needed by the Alpine HU much less the line amp.
Make sure you properly cap off the stock 12V constant, [preventing a short] the 7.5A fuse is also ECU memory.
If the HU chassis is not already grounded to the cars chassis, [using stock ISO mounting] run a 12/10 gauge ground strap from the chassis of the HU, [and lineamp] to the cars chassis, [dash subframe].
Pull that 10A and replace it with a 7.5A. 94
