Default Best CD/MP3 Head Unit?

Hey whats up everybody, I'm in the market for a new head unit and was wondering What cd/mp3 head unit had the best sound quality and best features available right now? I was looking at the Alpine CDA-9835. I currently have a CDA-7893 and i love the sound quality this model has, but it is not working real well as of late,

The CDA-9835 looks sweeeet, but i was wondering what manufacturer has the best sound quality (me thinks alpine) and features combined for around 500$ thanks..

Well personally for about $320 you can get a pioneer premiere 860mp that has a whole slew of sq options. Has a 13 band eq and a mic to tune the eq to your specific vehicle for those who have no idea how it is used.

Or, you could get a cheap older pioneer, or alpine unit and run audiocontrol eq's and crossovers afterwards.

A older pioneer unit you can get for arond $100 then a audiocontrol eqx which is a line driver, 11 band eq and crossover all in one. All will total around the price of the 860mp.

That is personally the two options I think you should look into. I suggest doing the cheap deck with eq's. This way, if the deck ever gets jacked you are only out a $100 headunit since you can better hide and lockdown the extra eq's and crossovers.

Will that provide better sound quality then a top of the line alpine head unit?

Alpine is one of the best head units you can buy. They r durable and sound great right out the box. If you don't want to adjust anything go alpine, if you do want to adjust anything go alpine. If u r getting it for the mp3 function most of the sound equalization options won't really matter. Most mp3's r low quality anyway, u will just hear how bad they sound compared to a song recorded at a higher bit rate.

Yes, running eq's and crossovers (especially audiocontrol) will have much better control over your sound then any headunit can provide. All you really need is a deck with mp3 ability. You can get one as low as $150 or maybe even $100.

Unless you have absolutly no idea what you are doing when it comes to setting up the eq's and tuning them, it will sound much better then a 5 or 7 band eq limited by the headunit.

I personally like JVC Aresonal and Alpine both and don't think you can go wrong with either. I have both and like the JVC a fair amount better but the Alpine is good too.
