Out of what is currently available......the Clifford AvantGuard 4 is the best. It has all of the security features you will ever need. 3-point immobilizer (starter, ignition and a wireless immobilizer to cutoff the fuel pump). Dual stage shock and proximity sensors in addition to a tilt/motion sensor. Remote start that will work on automatic and manual transmissions. Backup battery siren. The unit is also Windows (98 and 2000) programmable. For all the details check it out on http://www.clifford.com

Also, the installation quality is going to play a huge factor in the effectiveness of the alarm. If the install is poor, then it doesn't matter what system you have. Crucial components have to well-hidden and hard-to-reach (brain, siren and wireless immobilizer). Sensors have to be mounted to prevent false alarms and wiring should not be distinguishable from the factory wiring.

there was an issua awhile back in an ImportTUNER magazine..which featured a new alarm system...i forgot what it was called..but it had all the features an average alarm has and more...it had a couple sensors...and that pager thing that pages you and tells you what area of your car triggered the alarm...it also has a little touch button sticker..where you place it on your windshield...and it says "to page owner of vehicle..press here.." something like that..but i really liked it and i were to get an alarm...i'd get that...it retailed for around 700.00...pretty pricey but i think its well worth it!

There are a lot of good alarms out there, but the quality of the alarm is greatly dependent on installation. Get a good, reputable shop to do it (read: not a chain store).

Also try searching, there are a billion threads on alarms here.

Wow, so someone can page the vehicle's owner without setting off the alarm and see if anyone comes around. In other words make sure the coast is clear. Not sure if I like that feature too much.
