I have an Optima Yellow top. When i left for school i forgot to unhook the battery so when i came back it was totally drained. So i hooked it up to my battery charger and set it for 10 amps. Its been about 14 or so hours since its been on and its still not 100% charged says the charger. Its about 80%.
This has been maybe the 3rd time ive completly drained the battery.....is it time to get a new one? I thought the Optima Yellow tops could be drained many times before having to replace it.

 

Some chargers have a tough time charging a battery from scratch. Unhook the charger and try it again on trickle or low setting. If it still doesnt charge either try another charger or get the battery load tested. Optimas are great batteries. Too bad you can do hydrometer tests on individual cells though.

 

Its charing now on 10amp. Is a low setting of 2 amp better?
