Depends.... If you are going to get the 51R optima.. (the civic sized one) and place it in the stock location.. then yes, there is another battery for same or cheaper price that supposibly charges faster, and also has better starting power and over all capacity, by a lot. It is the SVR 50 (I run it, and all you will need is some 2$ battery tie downs that are like.. oh.. half an inch longer than stock to be safe).

Someone will undoubtably send a link again ive already argued against, that says optima is more powerful, which is true... because in the test they used their much larger battery, not the 51r..

I made a big arguement on it, and showed the facts, but I cannot find it in search right now.

If size is not a matter, or mounting in the stock location doesnt matter, then I cannot tell you if a larger SVR is better than the larger Optima.. I haven't looked, but I would guess so.. Research that aspect yourself.

he is correct, new batt will only help when car is off, or if your battery is bad and is somehow making the alt work reallllly hard just to keep it going, like my old stocker, all coroded.. whole system dropped to 8V max.. it was bad.. still not exactly sure why it did that while running...

well the alt is only about a year and a half old and i think it has a 3 or 5 year warranty, so im not real worried about it, but i have a feeling the battery in it is on its last legs

It will tell you all you need to know about the alt., batt., and charging system.
BTW How has winter been so far this year? 94

well mine was 4-5 years or so old, and it was corroding and very very bad shape, so ... well you know the type of battery I like, ... but its a safe bet that yours is on its way out, especially with those temps happening.
