Balanced Line Driver
Ok, who here knows about these puppies and where I can get one for a decent price???
I have a soundstream rubicon 1002 and one of the rca inputs got busted so I'm running on one rca input right now. I figure my best bet would be to switch to a balanced line driver and connect this to the balanced input on the amp (bypass fixing the rca input and also improve sound drastically while I'm at it.)
I am wondering however if all balanced line drivers are the same (as in do they all use the same din plug?) Or do I have to get a soundstream driver?
THanks in advance.
P.S. This is not the same as a "line driver" just in case I confused any of you.

no, they are not all the same... In your system you would need a balanced transmitter, not a receiver.
Balanced works like this: It's a 3 wire system, with one wire carrying the following:
1. Signal
2. - Signal (the inverse of #1)
3. Ground + Noise (this is the noise picked up along the way)
So the following happens:
Balanced Signal = (signal + noise) - (-singal + noise) = 2xSignal
So you get double the voltage and absolutely no noise.
Eclipse uses two pairs of RCA cables per channel of signal. Zapco uses a cable similar to a PS/2 port on a computer and PG uses a telephone cord type setup in some setups (IIRC), and the Image Dynamics processors use an XLR connector - so everyone does it a little different.
Now there may be adapters available, but the blt for soundstream are in limited supply...
FWIW, I have a soundstream ref 500 around for sale

Yeah, I already know how they work, and that I need a transmitter and mini-DIN plug....I'm just trying to locate one.
I found a site with BLT's still in stock for 50 bucks, and they want 22 for ups ground shipping....what kind of rip off is that????
B18beg, hit me back about that blt you have.
