Default Bad Sounds

i have a real nice JVC deck and 6.5 rockfords all the way around, the speakers have a max watts of 180, and the deck puts out 50x4. When i turn it up not real loud but where the speakers should handle it they break. I thought it was the speakers so i got new ones, then i thought it was the stock wiring so i re-ran the wires and it still destorts. Any advice would be great.

i dunno man, you really shouldnt have something that can push more power than the speakers you have.... Id try to get some like 50 watt speakers or something.. I know you didnt have them turned up all the way or anything like that, but I think that could maybe be the problem.

Yes, Even the nicest headunit does not put out enough power to really get a good/clean loud sound from most aftermarket speakers. An amp on your highs will most likely solve the problem you have.

my friends computer wont let me log on my name(b18t) so i'm using his. Today i took my brothers $100 JVC deck which is 45x4 and it sounded great with the volume turned way up. So i don't understand why a more expensive deck will distort with the bass not turned up hardly at all.

the combined power of your speakers should be more than what your deck supports... Your friend has a power max of 180... with the 4 50 watt speakers, that makes 200 total watts. you have the ability to power 200 watts of speakers, and your speakers combined is only 180.. to get a better sound get 4 50 watt speakers... Thats what all the audio shops tell me anyways..

PS you didn't say anything about turning up the bass before, so I didnt tell you to check your speaker wireing, make sure your speakers are in phase, you can check this by just balanceing all the way to the left or right, and seeing if you get better bass when you are all the way left or right, then when you are in the center, if so, [better left or right] your speakers are out of phase. 94
