Default Is this bad?

My brother just installed his infinity kappas for his front speakers today and he accidently drilled a hole through the black foamy part that outlines the inner section. Will this affect the performance of his speakers in any way?

Can you elaborate on toast? We faded the music to the front left and then to the front right to compare the sound and it sounds about the same... sorry I'm a newbie at this audio stuff.

are you sure it sounded ok? if so then i guess dont worry about it. usually when that part of a speaker gets messed up, the sound sucks ***.

Putting a hole in the surround won't "toast" a speaker. What you should do is get some silicon, and use it to patch it up from the rear. This will keep it from tearing any more. It won't impact performance.

That hole is destined to get big and then sound horrid. Right now, it might sound ok, but ya, do like he said and patch it up with some silicon.

there alr also companies on the web (i delt with one out in california) that are authorized refurbishers for some brands of speakers. If have a problem long term, you may want ot go try and find one of these places that will replace the surround.
