audio installation school
a friend of mines is thinking about attending a audio installation school called moblie dynamics and he's wondering what do yall think of the school and what kind of job can he get coming out of the school because he said the school has ties with best buy and he's wondering how much you think they pay because he's trying to keep on track with paying the school back thanx alot he's in nyc if anybody wants to know and give him som ideas on where to look for a job at
buahahaa, your gonna spend $3500 + room/board/transportation to get a job at friggen Best Buy? Dont kid yourself... thats like going to college for 4 years and coming out to do something you were already qualified to do before you went in. BB doesnt require MECP certified installers - they have whats called "blanket" coverage. Which is like one or two guys who know their **** - and they other people just take some basic testing (power wire is this color, fuse ratings, blah blah blah) unless they have changed it you dont need MECP to work in BB.
MobileDynamics is an awesome school, which facility was he looking to goto? If its the Toronto area, and your not local get ready to pay for the hotel. Cheapest hotel I could find your looking at like $350 a week - 6 week course, thats $2100 - dont forget you gotta eat, and 6 weeks of sitting on your *** picking your nose? Hell no you need entertainment money, gas money, thats easily $6000.
Metro Auto also has a good facility - what is it that your friend is looking to get into? Has he ever even touched doing an install before?

Mobile Dynamics is definitely worth the money. But I wouldn't try to get a job with BB afterwards unless absolutely necessary. I was in the same boat. 'Graduated' (if you call it that) from Mobile Dynamics back in '97 but the only place hiring around my way was Circuit City. So I took it. Four years later, I left with alot of knowledge that I didn't get at M.D. They can't teach you everything about every car. Now I am at Tweeter loving what I am do. Most small mom and pop shops need experience. Most times it won't matter if you can fiberglass a new dash with carbon fiber inserts if you can't even install an alarm in the same car. Good luck.
I went to Mobile Dynamics in 1999. They teach your some theory, no real world installs. MECP, in my opinion, is pretty useless as there is no subsitution for real world experience.
