Default Any specifics for making 6x9 boxes?

Got my pyle 6x9's plx693 with 150 rms each, just wanna make a box/boxes and put it somewhere in the rear of my ef. My cars gutted so its just gonna be on the ground or mounted on the box. I have a wood class so Im gonna make something this week. Just wanna know if there are actual things that must be right.

I was thinking I could just make the box so it fit the speakers snuggly in rectangle box and divide the chambers with a piece of wood? I would also make a small port probably a 1" circle on both chambers. Can I just make it like that?

Why not just buy the pre made boxes from radio shack or your local car audio places? They are around $30 for the pair.

I've used the premade boxes from Wal-Mart before and they sound fine. This link may have some useful information on speaker enclosures, though.
