Default Antennae fix

The cable plug that goes into the stereo from my antennae got smashed up sometime and im wondering if i can cut and splice a new plug on it, or will that cause alot of intereference? im kinda lazy right now, (been working on a classic bug) and i dont feel like running a new cable through the dash.

Thnx for any help.

It's a little difficult to do if you haven't done it before. The antenna has a center wire and a shield. You'll have to insert the center wire through the center of the new antenna plug and solder the tip. You'll then have to twist the stranded shield wire together and solder it to the new shield, carefully insulating it from the center wire.
