Default Another security tip - get a car cover.

Another security devise - Get a car cover.

How will a cover help protect your car? A good cover will require a cable to run underneath the car to keep the cover secured. So the wind won't blow it away. Therefore, run another cable to the front frame, near the alarm. So if the cable is pulled, metal hitting metal will trigger the alarm to go on.

Now picture this. They have to remove the car cover. Trigger the alarm. Break open your door. Disable to alarm to shut it up. Cut the steering wheel to remove the club. Then saw off the auto lock. Now, hot wire the car to start. Sounds like way too much trouble.

Haters will say, they can cut the cover, tow the car, etc. But the point is, a cheap cover can add to the level of security you already have to make it more time consuming, therefore less of a target. It also can keep the car clean and cooler in the summer.

Got this idea from a man who just got a new 350Z and have to park in a station daily.

I suppose that this applies to a car like a 350, but would someone with a hooked up integra really spend 15 minutes arming and disarming his car just to hit kmart for some socks?
Don't get me wrong i'm not invalidating your tip at all, matter of fact i think it's a very useful one. I just wonder how many people this would apply to? Or..am i that sheltered living here in a suburban town?

I think it a good Idea for lock-up a night if you don't have a garage to park in like I don't have.

It would be tiresome, but it just comes down to the person, and how much they care about their car.

Sounds like the ideal situation for it.

I do on my Civic, especially going to KMart. I do all except the car cover. And yes, someone have tried (and gave up - when they see I have more than one layer of security).

I agree. I think I'll go do that... Although it will be hassle if it was raining.

that is a bad idea..if i was a thief i first would...
take off the cover not caring bout the alarm, get inside the car..
and have a friend put the car cover properly on..now i got all the time i
need to cut wut ever, break what ever..and i'll take off eventually

and if you heard the alarm you'll just look outside your house and see that "oh, the car cover is still on,but i'm inside and you probably think some ricer car set your alarm off...then back to what ever your doing"

Not a bad idea, but don't you think it would suck at the same time that vandalizers see that you value your car and think: "hey, this guy values his car...let's smash it so he wouldn't know about the damage till he takes the cover off?"
I don't know about you, but I'd be pretty paranoid about that one.

i always put my car cover on at night ever since my car almost got stolen in front of my house. i'd rather hear them bust out another one of my car windows then have the whole car gone.
