personally id get the 150. if its 1000 watts all the time running 100% efficient its pulling 83 amps(Watts = Volts*Amps, 1000/14 = 71. that laves 29 amps for the car to use all together. its not goin to be 100% efficient so 100 amp might be too little, then it will start to drain the battery, and might damage the alternator when it cant supply the current needed

I bought 2 H.O. alts off eBay.
One for my stock motor and one for my b18b.
Both were 135amps and they work fine.
If you are buying from online ask them what it puts out at idle. Some, including mine, jave a lower output that stock at idle.
Just a thought.

You will have to get a new alt. I highly doubt they can rewind a 40A alt. to 150A not even 100A.

Have you checked out your local car parts stores or batt./alt. shops?

It's a good bet your amp is not even close to 100% efficient so probably needs about 160A of current to make 1000W RMS continuously, but because it's also just as unlikely that you will ever listen to it putting out 1000W RMS, [except maybe a burp here and there] so the average draw will be less then 100A, [if you listen to it very loud] so a 150A alt. should work just fine, and still leave you with a little head room. 94

What are the make and model numbers of the amps?
What we need is the total RMS power of the amps, assuming you have 1200+200=1400W RMS, it would take about 180A to make 1400W of RMS power, however if it's 1400W max, [about 700W RMS] you only need about 100A. 94

the rms of the 1200by 1 is 1200 with a 2400 watt peak. The 200x2 is only pushin 70 by two at 4ohms. with a 100 watt peak to each channel.

its kickers new line of kx amps.
the subs run at about 600 rms each with 1200 watt peaks.

OK I found the KX200.2 2x70W into 4 ohms @ 14.4V and the KX1200.1 1x300W into 4 ohms, 1x600W into 2 ohms and 1x1200W into 1 ohm @ 14.4V.

I assume you have the 15s wired to a 1 ohm load.

Kicker also recommends a 1/0ga power cable for the KX1200.1 and 8ga for the KX200.2.

With 1340W RMS and as long as power and ground wiring is done properly and the batt. to chassis and chassis to motor/tranny are "beefed up" and you have a good batt. I would still look for a 150A alt., a 200A alt. would be better. 94

i have two 12s wired from kicker at 2 ohms. its a 1000.1 but kicker rates their amps from the manufacturer.. so the "birth cirtificate" stated 1200 watts

OK, I found a ZX1000.1 1x500W RMS into 4 ohms @ 14.4V and 1x1000W RMS into 2 ohms @ 14.4V, Kicker also recommends a 1/0 power cable for that amp, IMO unless you are running more then 16 feet of cable I don't see the need for anything bigger then 2ga for the sub amp and 8ga for the high-pass amp.

It also does not change the fact that a 150A - 200A alt. is needed. 94
