alpine type 10 and amp
Right now i have 2 infinity 1242 references powered by a power acoustik ts-1440-2 amp but im looking to get a type r 10 instead(either the swr-1042 or 1022). my question is what is a good amp to push this type r sub at its rms power with really good SQ? and with the recomended amp should i get the dvc 4 ohm or dvc 2 ohm model of the sub? any help is appreciated.
and also is the type r a better SQ sub than the infinities i already have? im looking for SQ rather than how loud/hard the subs hit because im going from an explorer with the infities to an integra with the type r

really depends on your pocket book
the swr-1022 in a sealed box with at least 2.5 cube
air a reallt good amp would be the audiobahn
a4002v or a6005dn both great clean power
if you need any specs for a box give me a shout

Ditto that.

Did you just say Audiobahn is a good amp?
No, it isn't.

The JL Amp may be a bit pricey... Alpine V12 amps would be a good choice as well.

Audiobahn is a good product
maybe you havent check them out
audiobahninc.com
alpine is also good but high price and they get hot
really quick
and the reason a siad 2.5 or 2 is hes going for sq
that box would give it a full range of sound including the deep bass if he wanted

Alpine amps do not shut off is whats more important. With Alpine you get quality, with Audiobahn you get a piece of ****!!! Trust me someone would have to buy the amp and pay weekly to put a piece of **** audiobahn anything in my car or any car that I work on........PERIOD!
i know the price is low and you get what you pay for but i have heard some good things about kenwood amps. is this a good sounding amp?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem
i know it wont sound as good as an alpine or jl but is it still pretty good or not?

you obviously have no money to spend if you are looking on ebay for amps.
dont buy refurbished or used audio product. as fcm and a few others have stated.. the jl amp is one you cannot go wrong with. if you are really as interested in sq as you say you are.. save the money for the right amp. and also, pick a different sub for sq rather than the alpine type r. since you may end up going with a jl 500/1, why not go with 12w6, or a 10w7?
and for the poster saying you need 2.5 cubes for a 10 inch type r.. you should stop posting for awhile.
as well as the poster saying that audiobahn amps are good. have fun buying from circuit city.. maybe they can make a nice sq install for you too.. butttttt probably not cause they really dont know the first thing about car audio, they are just kids who needed a job and found it at the circuit city roadshop
honestly, not to sound "assholeish", but who really thinks that circuit city, etc. will perform a nice install at a reasonable price? for sq? not once do they mention anything about imaging, kick panels, or anything that would pertain to beginning a good sq setup.. all they mention is the **** coaxial speakers they have and the most "powerful" amplifier they can give you to power the speakers.

Why do you feel the need to flame about Circuit City like that? We have beaten this topic to death...there are good places and bad places, not all big box companies are bad, not all small custom shops are good. We aren't "a bunch of kids that needed a job for the summer"
