Alpine Multimedia Systems.
I am looking into getting a multimedia system for my integra. The Alpine systems look to have the best features.
I have been looking into these parts:
Cva-1006
and the alpine Navigation system
is this the setup to go with, or is there a better one ?(please list)
Are the navigation systems accurate ?
Where can i get a used one for a good price, and what is a good used price ?
I travel alot and hate maps

check out kenwood's kvt-911dvd... 7" touch-screen controls... built in tv tuner w/ hella good sensitivity... dual zone control... the list goes on and on.
i'd buy it over the alpine anyday
i'd buy it over the alpine anyday
Look for the newer version, its the IVA800, which plays cd, dvd, all indash because with the cva-1006, you will need either a DVD player or a cd changer

monitor....check it out on alpines website. Very trick multimedia piece. As
for navigation performance,I own a cva1003 and the 851a dvd based system
with the upgraded software....works great. Alpine product is not as *gimmicky*
as others....though I wish they would add a pair of front rca outputs to
the entry level units (cva1003..now cva1004) but with a entry price of about
$800.00 bucks...its still a good deal.
As for buying the products used....buy from someone you know or authorized
dealers only.....I have seen cases of units that were not complete ( display
only...no sub chassis or wiring missing) or worse, Frakenstiened units ( a
complete unit made up of the parts from 3 different models...that was sold
as 1 unit !!). These are high ticket items...so use care.

alpine's navigation is by far the best and most accurate. they added weight limits and one way streets this year as well as low bridges. this might not be important to you, but it is a huge deal for truckers, who navigation was pointless if it told them to go down a one way or had to reroute themselves cause of wieght restrictions and low bridges.
i second that to the alpine nav. they have it all done out. If you loose GPS signal, it has gyro and speed sensors that "track where you are w/o the signal". Just an amazing peice of technology. Also, as said, the DVA9blah blah i forget looks HOT. Not to mention it's alpines first in-dash screen/cd/dvd/etc. 480x480 WVGA resolution
oh, and isn't 480x480 the same res as SVCD's?

I would go with the Alpine IVA 800-801. Although I don't believe it plays both CD and DVD, you still need an external DVD player. What I like about the new IVA is the cool spectrum digital analyzer, basically visuals for your music, sorta like an MP3 player. That's one of the few I know that actually has this feature. Anyone knows what other in dash unit has this besides Alpine?

it all depends or your price range. if you gonna spend the big bucks, then go w/ a kenwood or pioneer 7 inch monitor w/ built in dvd. but if your gonna be cheap w/ it, then the model alpine should be good.

personally I don't care for the kenwood. It takes too damn long for it to "load". It's like MAC, you have to sit there and wait while the bar on the bottom shows the loading status... which on the one I put in was around 15-20 seconds
ill be getting ride of my cva-1005 in dash monitor and dva-5205 dvd/cd/video cd player in the next couple of months so that i can upgrade to the new iva-d900 (supposed to be badass)
alpine definatly gets my vote as ive never once had a problem w/ any other there products

DVA-7996. Plays CD's, MP3's, DVD's.. not sure about VCD's and SVCD's, but it wouldn't surpise me.
