installed an alpine HU in my CRX with the correct adapter for the 88 CRX...i didn't cut into car's wiring but i did it with the special adapter. question is i sold the CRX but i took everything back HU, and the adapter. would it be a direct plug and play into my 99 integra? or is wiring different? do i have to get a different one?
also is there a specail installation kit i need to buy to install the HU? i was looking at team integra article on it...it says the alpine sleeves doesn't bolt up to the din...but they used tape. but there was also some kind of backstrap on it...is it needed?

I would get an installation kit, they're only $20. Duct-taping the can seems janky to me.
As for the harness, I am not 100%. I think it should be the 98 and up Honda one but I seem to remember some integras still using the old one (that you used in your CRX)... only one way to find out!

Dont be cheap, just buy a new wire harness and dash kit, $30-$40 max, get it done the right way the first way because later down the line your going to do it any way.
The harness adapter may fit the teg, they still used the 1986 - 97/98 radio harnesses on all but the last tegs to come off the production line, it also depended on the plant they came out of, pull the HU on the teg before you go and spend any money on something you may not need, same goes for the kit, using a kit will make the job easier, [us a Metra kit] with some custom work you can retain the stock pocket and the HU will fit a little farther back in the dash then with a kit.

im not trying to be cheap...i'm just saying since its already all wired in why take it off and redo it? i mean if its all same wires why not just unplug and plug into the teg? i think its the same BTW...i looked it up. and yes i bought the installation kit.
haha i wasn't calling you cheap, you just threw the duct tape idea out there as a means of holding out HU in the dash and that WOULD HAVE been cheap, but you seem to know what your doing gl with your project

haha...yea got it installed last nite. the harness is the same...but i had the extra harness and i just used that one. got the sub/amp wired in too but i wanna relocated the amp. right now its below the pass seat but if i can't roll the seat all the way back...so yea. im gonna have to put it in the trunk near the sub. i just need longer RCA cables, power wire. i have all the other **** already.
BTW the metra kit for the integra didn't fit too well..like there is some gap in the top and little on the bottom? i tried messing with the tabs a little but still nothing...not really bad but yea...it just slides right in and clips on right? to take it out do i just move the side and slide it back out?

There should be no gap with the Metra kit. Did you "break away" the kits locking tabs that are not used for the Integra?
If not, they may be why there is a gap, don't go by what tabs to use in the directions, "fit the kit", without HU or HU cage, and cut off any locking tabs that are in the way, I would also strongly recommend you install a back support for the HU, and metal "L" bracket off the the rear of the HU to the stock radio rear support brace will not only support the HU, it will also ground the HUs chassis.
