Default Alpine Headunit

I've had this alpine headunit for about 2 years now, and for the past 6 months the Cd player has been skipping everytime I hit a bump, and it never used to do that. I used a cd cleaner on it, but that didn't work. Does anyone know how I can fix it, or do I just have to get a new one? Thanks

The fact that this is new either means that the unit changed or the enviornment changed. In other words if you remounted it and that is what caused it to start to skip then try remounting it again. If you have not remounted it then that means that something happened in the unit itself. Eitherway I would suggest that you try to remount it get it as tight as you can. There is built in skip protection so the tighter the mount the more effective that protection can be.

I think you should remount it again because the vibration might have loosened it.

does it sometimes shut off and come on quickly right where the song left off when you hit a hard enough bump? same thing happened to me. If you have an amp and a remote wire from the headunit... check all the wires. also be sure to double check the ground wire on the amp. if you dont have one, check your powersource behind the headunit.

That same thing just happened to me, one night at like 2 I was leaving a friends house and every little bump I hit my h/u would shut off and then turn back on, maybe like 10 times in 5 minutes. But It hasn't happened again since then. Crazy

try using one of those compressed air cans on it. Sometimes if the lens is dirty/dusty it will end up being more sensitive to bumps
