alpine deck and speakers install help
my boi works at best buy and can plug me with this alpine deck with the ipod connection cord http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...97913
and these speakers http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...97913
he said its gonna be 350, regular price is 450 with warranty. but the thing is since its his discount he's not supposto buy it for other people so i can't install it there and was wondering how hard it is to install the deck and speakers as an at home project? i have an eg hatchback dx model without rear speakers so im just gonna get the front. would i have to remove the dash? how hard is it to hide the ipod cord? any info would help please

Easy. Your stock radio has two screws underneath that you can get to by removing the lower console/ashtray area. Wire up the harness to the adaptor harness using butt connectors.
The front speakers can probably be installed without taking off the door panels as well. If your mechanically inclined, this will be easy.

okay so my head unit's amp is 16 x 4 rms and the alpine speakers are 50w rms and 250 rms max. im only running the two front so i think i can double up the wires and get them to 32w x 2 rms. would this be okay or should i invest in a amp? if so should i get all alpine setup or a different brand amp? also i heard there is this harness that plugs into the back of the head unit so i dont need to do all the cuttings and stripping of the wires? any info would help please

Well, if it doesn't say in the manual that this head unit can be bridged, then I wouldn't risk it.
You can get an amp if you want, but no amp will do ok too. Get any brand you like, it doesn't have to be Alpine.

anyone hear of lanzar brand? http://www.lanzar.com/itempage.asp?MODEL=VIBE236 would these work well with these speakers? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...51338 if that brand is no good any suggestions on a pretty good brand? i only need a 2 way or 4 way bridged.
The HU install is easy... http://www.installdr.com/Insta...7.pdf you should use an adaptor harness, [get one from BB].
Your speakers are a diff. story, your links are both for the HU, but if they are Alpine speakers and not their marine speakers they are not a standard 6.5" they are over-sized 6.5" and will not fit the stock Honda speaker housing, [mounting hole diameter is 5" the speakers is bigger.
An amp for the speakers is the way to go the get full performance out of the speakers although it will work off the HU, just don't "over drive" the HU, and connect the HUs constant, [yellow] directly to the batt. and make sure HU chassis is grounded to cars chassis.

If you are just going to run them off HU power make the adaptor rings out of 3/4" MDF with a 6" o/s diameter and a 5-7/16 i/s diameter, mount the adaptor to the stock speaker housings using the stock 3 hole mount, [don't forget to countersink the screw heads] then mount the speaker to the MDF ring, it will fit without cutting the back out of the stock plastic speaker housings.
If you run them off an amp, replace the stock plastic speaker housings with custom MDF speaker housings, you will get the "full performance" from the speakers.

not much better. you can get a good entry level amp for around 150-250. also if your on a budget check out "profile" at crutchfield. i can vouch for their amps, over and over again. very good prices and 3 year warranty, not to mention crutchfield has excellent customer service. hope this helps.

I had the alpine type r's and the infinity reference in the front in my integra, seemed to fit with the spacers. Ill have to remember that the wood would sound better though. Would just adding dynamat behind the plastic make up for the difference?
When I tried to make some out of mdf, my mdf just seemed to fall apart when I drilled in to it.

Dynamat will always help, but it does not replace wood, [or "make up the difference"].
As to the Alpines and Infinitys fitting, I can see the Infinity fitting as they have a 5" mounting hole diameter, however the Alpine type Rs have a 5-21/64" mounting diameter.
